CookIt Privacy Policy

Effective date: 13 September 2026

This privacy policy explains how the CookIt app (“CookIt”, “the app”) handles information. CookIt is published by AstroForged (“we”, “us”). If you have any questions, contact us at astroforgedlabs@gmail.com.

SUMMARY

  • CookIt has no accounts and no sign-in. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number.
  • Everything you enter in CookIt, including your pantry, favourites, shopping list, meal plan, timers and settings, is stored only on your device. We never receive it.
  • CookIt shows ads provided by Google AdMob. Google may collect information from your device to show and measure those ads, as explained below.
  • We do not sell the information you enter in CookIt.
  1. INFORMATION YOU ENTER IN THE APP

CookIt stores the following on your device so the app can work:

  • the ingredients in your pantry, including which ones you always have and which you want to use soon
  • your favourite recipes
  • your shopping list
  • your weekly meal plan
  • your kitchen timers
  • your settings, such as units, theme and dietary filters

This information is kept in private storage on your phone that other apps cannot read. It is not uploaded to us, and we have no servers that receive it. CookIt’s recipes are also stored on your device, so searching and browsing them does not send anything anywhere.

If you have turned on Android’s backup to your Google account, Android may include CookIt’s data in that backup. Google handles the backup under your device’s backup settings, and we cannot access it.

  1. ADVERTISING

CookIt uses Google AdMob, an advertising service provided by Google, to show ads. When an ad is requested or shown, the Google Mobile Ads SDK built into the app may collect and process information such as:

  • your device’s advertising ID
  • your IP address, which can be used to estimate your general location (for example, your country or city)
  • information about your device and the app, such as device model, operating system version, language and app version
  • information about the ads, such as which ads were shown and whether you tapped them
  • diagnostic information about how the ads perform

Google uses this information to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure how ads perform, detect and prevent fraud and abuse, and, where the law allows and you agree, show ads that are more relevant to you.

We do not send Google anything you have entered in CookIt, such as your pantry or shopping list.

You can learn how Google uses information from apps that use its services at:
https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

Google’s privacy policy is available at:

Your choices about ads:

  • If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, CookIt asks for your consent before personalised ads are shown, using Google’s consent tool. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy settings in the app.
  • You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone’s settings. On most Android phones this is under Settings > Privacy > Ads, or Settings > Google > Ads. Deleting your advertising ID stops it being used for personalised ads.
  • You can manage ad personalisation for your Google account at https://myadcenter.google.com
  • If you choose not to receive personalised ads, you will still see ads. These may still use limited information, such as your approximate location from your IP address, to limit repeated ads, produce overall reports and prevent fraud.
  1. PERMISSIONS

CookIt asks for the following permissions, and uses each one only for the reason given:

  • Notifications: to alert you when a kitchen timer finishes.
  • Alarms and reminders: so a timer rings on time, even when CookIt is closed.
  • Run at startup: so a running timer’s alert is restored if your phone restarts.
  • Vibration: so a timer alert can vibrate.
  • Internet and network access: to load ads. CookIt’s recipes and tools work without an internet connection.
  • Advertising ID: used by Google AdMob, as described in section 2.

CookIt does not ask for access to your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, files or calendar.

  1. READING STEPS ALOUD

If you turn on “Read steps aloud”, CookIt uses the text-to-speech engine already installed on your device to read recipe steps. We do not receive or store anything that is spoken. The text-to-speech engine is provided by your device maker or by Google and is covered by its own privacy terms.

  1. SHARING OF INFORMATION

We do not collect the information you enter in CookIt, so we have none to share, sell or disclose. The only information that leaves your device through CookIt is the advertising information collected by Google AdMob, described in section 2.

  1. KEEPING AND DELETING YOUR INFORMATION

The information you enter in CookIt stays on your device until you delete it. You can:

  • remove items from your pantry, favourites, shopping list and meal plan inside the app
  • delete all of CookIt’s data from your phone’s settings, under Settings > Apps > CookIt > Storage > Clear storage
  • uninstall CookIt, which removes all of its data from your device

Information collected by Google AdMob is kept by Google in line with Google’s own policies, which are linked in section 2.

  1. SECURITY

Your CookIt data is stored in private storage on your device, protected by Android. Because we do not transmit or store it on our own systems, it cannot be exposed through us.

  1. CHILDREN

CookIt is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age for consenting to data use where they live. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through CookIt, contact us at astroforgedlabs@gmail.com.

  1. YOUR RIGHTS

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, such as the right to access it, delete it, object to how it is used, or withdraw your consent. This includes rights under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation and US state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act.

Because the information you enter in CookIt stays on your device, you can view and delete it at any time using the steps in section 6. For information collected for advertising, you can use the ad choices in section 2 or contact Google. Under some US state laws, showing personalised ads can count as “sharing” personal information; you can opt out by deleting or resetting your advertising ID or by turning off personalised ads. You can also contact us with any request at astroforgedlabs@gmail.com.

  1. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top. If the changes are significant, we will let you know in the app or on our Google Play listing.
